Vehicle Details

We’re not worthy! OK, we are. This is a true AAR ‘Cuda. Mopar’s Holy Grail. We did a bit of cosmetic work on the front spoiler and rear. Also just a bit of mechanical – fluids, etc. The car is pristine!

The 1970 Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda was a limited-production, race-inspired version of the ‘Cuda, built to homologate the car for Trans-Am racing. “AAR” stands for All American Racers, the Dan Gurney-led team that campaigned the Barracuda in the SCCA Trans-Am series.

What Makes the AAR ‘Cuda Special?
The Engine

Instead of the usual big-block monsters, the AAR ‘Cuda was equipped with a 340 cubic inch (5.6L) V8, but this wasn’t just any small-block:

340ci “Six Barrel” V8
Rated at 290 horsepower (but likely underrated—real output was closer to 320-350 hp)
Triple two-barrel carburetors on an Edelbrock aluminum intake
Special high-lift camshaft and free-flowing heads
This setup gave it great high-RPM performance, perfect for road racing.

The Exhaust & Suspension

Unique side-exit exhaust pipes in front of the rear wheels—aggressive both in looks and sound.
Fast-ratio steering and upgraded suspension for better handling, unlike the drag-focused big-block ‘Cudas.
The Body

Fiberglass hood with a massive scoop, functional for fresh air induction.
Matte black hood treatment to reduce glare.
Slightly different stance—the rear end sat higher than the front for better weight transfer.
AAR side stripes and badging that made it instantly recognizable.
Only 2,724 AAR ‘Cudas were built, making them one of the rarest and most collectible Mopars out there.
