Vehicle Details
Another incredible Mopar collectible from the same owner as the 1970 AAR Cuda. This is a Superbird. Iconic and race-proven, it was the monster muscle car of the 70s. This one was in for some simple maintenance – fluids, checking the transmission and a general tune-up.
The 1970 Plymouth Superbird is one of the wildest and most legendary muscle cars ever built. Designed as a NASCAR homologation special, it was Plymouth’s response to the 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, aiming to dominate high-speed oval racing.
Key Features of the 1970 Plymouth Superbird
Aero Package
Massive rear wing—nearly two feet tall—to provide high-speed stability.
Aerodynamic nose cone—a pointed, extended front end that reduced drag and improved airflow.
Flush-mounted rear window (on modified Road Runner bodies) to further improve aerodynamics.
Engine Options
440ci (7.2L) Super Commando V8 – 375 hp, 480 lb-ft torque (standard engine).
440ci Six-Barrel (3×2 carb setup) – 390 hp, 490 lb-ft torque.
426ci (7.0L) HEMI V8 – 425 hp, 490 lb-ft torque (ultimate option, only about 135 built).
Performance & Legacy
Dominated NASCAR, with Richard Petty at the wheel.
Required at least 1,920 street cars to be built for homologation (actual production: around 1,935).
Too extreme for most street buyers, with many lingering on lots well into 1971.
Now one of the most collectible muscle cars in existence.
