This is one of the few 2+2 coupes Jaguar made during the short production of the Series 1.5 cars in 1968, that retained the small front & rear signal lamps. These cars dropped the glass-covered headlights and triple SU carburetors in order to meet new US safety & emission regulations. The majority of these cars were fitted with automatic transmissions.

However, when this particular car was restored years ago, the original engine was upgraded with a complete set of triple SU carburetors and the earlier-style polished cam covers as all the Series I cars had. Engine & chassis numbers agree with the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, but the car was changed from gray to red at that time. It even has the factory-optional A/C.

The paint is in exceptional condition, as the restoration involved a complete engine-out, strip & refinish with any corrosion being removed and professionally repaired. The engine was completely overhauled along with all mechanical, hydraulic & electrical systems—even the instruments were rebuilt. Mileage was set to zero and the car has only covered 14,071 miles since then. The black leather interior is equally show-worthy (in fact, the car has won several national-level concours awards). A file of receipts and records covering the restoration will accompany the car to its next owner.

Complete with its original tool & jack bag and owner's manual plus numerous spare parts & literature, the car has just received new tires, servicing and a full detailing after remaining in the current owner's family for over 40 years. The next owner will have a unique opportunity to enjoy triple-carburetor Series I performance with the advantages of the roomier body style and convenience of an automatic transmission…at much less than Series I pricing!
