Here’s a unicorn! This is a two-owner car consigned by the lady who bought it from the original owner in 1971—55 years ago! The car stayed in the family as a weekend driver all these years, during which time it remained accident-free and well cared for.
When the original blue paint faded, the car was treated to a glass-out, complete professional refinish in the present red, which has held up very well and was just buffed & polished in our shop for a great presentation. It’s a 5-dial, 4-speed car still with the original engine and interior. Our interior specialist has just replaced the flattened seat padding with new formed cushions, retaining the original vinyl covers that are in great condition. Headliner, dash & instruments are excellent.
The trunk holds the original date-coded spare wheel & jack, but there is some of the typical rust in the lower tub at the towing loop. Porsche buffs know that is a common localized repair that is inexpensive and the rest of the car is very solid. Tires are excellent Vredestein Sprint Classics that have few miles, but are several years old. Our shop has just installed a pair of new carburetors because the throttle shafts in the originals were (typically) worn, creating air leaks and poor running. Now, the car starts great and runs smoothly, as it should.
The last recorded engine-out repair was to replace the rear main seal and the clutch was inspected and found to be within spec—obviously replaced previously. Later gasket sealer on the cases support the engine having been overhauled at some point, but after her husband’s passing, all of the car’s previous records were lost, so we do not have historical documentation, but the 9,609 (+100K) miles showing are believed actual. The car runs & drives just like it did fifty years ago and is a delightful throwback to when Porsches were simple sports cars without electronic aids—just pure, tactile driving fun!
Priced above the needy rats out there, but below freshly-restored examples makes this survivor car very attractive at:
