Complete restoration on a 1955 Chevrolet Corvette in stunning original colors.
This classic Corvette came in for a complete restoration. This example is a one-year-only 'Harvest Gold' Corvette. Like many restorations this came to the shop as a driver; a bit worn but still out on the road. The 1955 is the first year Chevrolet offered the Corvette with a V8, thus the large āVā in the badge. On initial disassembly we found that the front end had been previously repaired, while there weren't many indicators, we did find incorrect rivets had been used previously.
Of course, we replaced those with the Chevrolet standard rivets. From there we handed the car off for paint. Mike worked to get the Harvest Yellow just right. We also did a complete mechanical and interior restoration. There are always things we run into throughout the restoration process, for instance, we had a devil of a time sourcing a remanufactured brake booster for the car.
While it's a time consuming process, it ensures that this classic will be numbers matching and concours-ready. Did you know in 1955 Chevy nearly ended production of the Corvette name? To learn more, go check out Pat's recent blog post on Corvette history!
The 1955 is now finished. It's back on the road and humming along nicely.
