RESTORED photos are first. Keep clicking to see the whole restoration. We helped our customer claim this 1966 Porsche 912 from an online auction. After some Porsche counseling and smart bidding, he won the auction. Now it’s here for restoration before, during and after an electric conversion by our friends at Moment Motors in Austin, TX.
This classic Porsche is undergoing a complete restoration at our shop, so we started with disassembly and documentation. This includes detailed records of the engine, which runs great. The owner may rebuild it and keep it with the car, or sell it as is.
The next step was paint removal and beginning bodywork. Not surprising to find some rust in this 57-year old classic. Our expert technicians found it all as well as perfecting all of the other metalwork and panels. At the same time, subtle custom touches were added to the bumpers and more. We then retrofitted a 911 engine mount in the engine bay to seamlessly accommodate the electric motor.
Following this, a precision application of primer and a sleek coat of paint prepped the vehicle for its journey to Austin, where it underwent rough-in procedures for battery boxes, drivetrain, and more.
Its next destination? Back to us, where we are now completing interior, electrical including new sound system, sound deadening and much more. Speaking of interior, this was nearly all completed in-house by our expert trimmer. Now, our detailer is putting the finishing touches on this semi-custom Porsche classic that will soon be electrifyingly fun!
