1966 PORSCHE 912 Electric Conversion

Video

This fully restored 1966 Porsche 912 is a striking fusion of vintage design and modern electric performance. Discovered as a barn find in Boulder, Colorado, the car underwent a comprehensive, ground-up restoration by our shop and was finished in elegant Porsche Race Silver, highlighting the 912’s timeless lines. Inside, a custom red plaid interior added a bold, bespoke touch—blending classic motorsport heritage with a fresh, personalized aesthetic. Every detail reflected a careful balance of authenticity and innovation.

Beneath the surface, this 912 was completely reengineered with a full electric conversion using a system from Electric GT in Costa Mesa, California. Power comes from a refreshed 25kWh Tesla battery pack paired with a Hyper 9 motor and 3.3kW onboard charger, delivering an estimated 280 horsepower equivalent—transforming the lightweight coupe into a remarkably quick and responsive driver’s car. Uniquely, the original 5-speed transmission remained intact and was mated to the electric motor, preserving an engaging, driver-focused experience; most driving was handled in second gear, with first used primarily for low-speed maneuvering. The result was a beautifully restored classic that delivered silent, instant torque and modern reliability while maintaining the character and analog charm that made the 912 so beloved.
